This service is intended for urgent, essential medication only and does not include controlled drugs.

This service is for patients who have run out of their regular medication and need urgent, short-term support until they can arrange their next prescription with their usual GP.
Yes. This service does not cover controlled drugs, ADHD medications, sleeping tablets (such as zopiclone), strong painkillers (including opioids), sedatives, or medications that require specialist initiation or close monitoring. If this applies to you, our online GP will explain why during your consultation and advise on appropriate next steps.
To prescribe safely, we’ll ask to see evidence that the medication has been prescribed to you before, such as your NHS App, a recent prescription receipt, or your labelled medication box.
Prescriptions are issued based on clinical judgement. If a prescription isn’t appropriate, the GP will explain why and discuss alternative options with you.
